Red Wings Rumors: James Reimer Trade Chatter Picking Up
Earlier this week, NHL insider Chris Johnston listed Detroit Red Wings goaltender James Reimer on his trade candidates list for The Athletic. Now, the veteran netminder is continuing to generate buzz as a trade candidate, as fellow NHL insider listed Reimer on his latest trade targets board for Daily Faceoff.
Trade winds are beginning to blow across #NHL, exactly 100 days out from the March 8 trade deadline.#Canucks, #Isles, #Oilers, #LeafsForever all in mix - but are there enough trade partners?

Seravalli argued that Reimer is "the perfect addition" for teams needing help in the net because he has a low cap hit, is consistent, has plenty of experience, and has played in tough Canadian markets. With that, the Red Wings would be unlikely to demand much for him in a potential swap.
The Red Wings are currently rolling with three goalies in Reimer, Ville Husso, and Alex Lyon. With Reimer being on a one-year deal, it may make sense to move him out of this trio if it means improving their roster elsewhere.
We will need to wait and see if Reimer ends up being dealt from here. Yet, when noting that now two insiders are viewing him as a prime trade candidate, it is hard not to speculate on his future in Detroit.
