Toronto Maple Leafs Call Up Forward
With Ryan Reaves out of action, the Toronto Maple Leafs have called up fellow forward Pontus Holmberg from the Toronto Marlies.
Holmberg, 24, has appeared in seven games this season for the Maple Leafs, where he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. Overall, it is fair to say that the young forward struggled a bit in the NHL this campaign, but now he has another chance to pick up his play from here.
Holmberg showed last season that he has the potential to be a solid bottom-six forward at the NHL level. In 37 games with the Maple Leafs in 2022-23, he had five goals to go along with 13 points in 37 games played.
Overall, this is a very good opportunity for Holmberg to show the Maple Leafs that he deserves an NHL spot permanently. We will need to wait and see how much of an impact he makes from here.
