Trade: St Louis Blues Deal Robert Bortuzzo to the New York Islanders
The NHL trade market continues to be hot as the St Louis Blues and New York Islanders made a trade on Friday seeing Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo heading to Long Island for a 2024 seventh-round pick.
The 34-year-old blueliner has had quite the tenure with the Blues, suiting up since the 2014-15 season. After the Islanders have been hammered by injuries on their blue line, management had to pull the trigger on a depth piece in Bortuzzo who will bring some sandpaper to their bottom pair.
At 6-foot-4 Bortuzzo will bring size to Long Island, however don't expect much offense at all. He managed five points in 43 games last season and has been used very little this season by the Blues, only appearing in four games.
Bortuzzo has 44 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience under his belt and is known as a great dressing room character. He's owed $950,000 this season and is a pending free agent next summer.
