Big News For Oliver Kylington: Finally Close To Returning To Flames

There is some great news coming out of Calgary today for the Flames, and that is Oliver Kylington looks to be close to returning to the team. Kylington hasn't played a game in the NHL since the 2021-22 season where he seemingly broke out, and has been out of action and away from the team for the majority of the time since.

The Flames have already moved on from Nikita Zadorov and are likely going to trade Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev before the trade deadline, there is going to be a need for defensemen to fill the holes. With how Kylington played for the team a couple of years ago, the organization may want him to stick around. This will involve a contract extension though. When last Kylington played, he put up nine goals and 31 points in 17 games and was looking like he could be a top-four option moving forward for the team. He still could be once he gets back up to speed.

Kylington has to first work his way back on his conditioning stint. The Flames have struggled while the young defenseman hasn't been playing games. At the very least, they would like to have this talented player back in the lineup for this season. The hope is that the Flames will be able to see a good number of games from him in the NHL over the next month and a bit and make a decision on him and their future.
