Bruins Rumors: Rookie Forward Named Top Trade Candidate

Although the Boston Bruins lost several notable players during the 2023 NHL Offseason, they are sitting at the top of the NHL standings yet again this season. Due to this, they are expected to be buyers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.

With the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline quickly approaching, The Athletic recently published an article discussing which player or draft pick each team is most likely to trade. Fluto Shinzawa listed rookie forward Johnny Beecher as the Bruins' pick.

Shinzawa wrote this about the prospect of Beecher getting moved: "The Bruins do not pick until the fourth round in 2024. They would be wary of trading Mason Lohrei or Fabian Lysell, their top two prospects. Beecher started the season as the No. 4 center, but he’s since been assigned to the AHL. Another team could see the 22-year-old as having a higher offensive ceiling. There is no denying the 6-foot-3, 216-pounder’s size, speed or reach."

Beecher has had a decent start to his NHL career with the Bruins this season, posting five goals and seven points in 39 games. While he has not dominated offensively, he was dependable in a 4C role with the Bruins before his demotion to the AHL. Since joining the Providence Bruins again, he has a goal in four games.

With the Bruins' limited prospect pool and draft picks, perhaps Beecher could be a player they move if it means adding someone who will help out the club immediately. However, there is some risk in that, as he is one of the Bruins' top center prospects, which is a position of weakness for the club.
