Calgary Flames Forward Out Several Weeks
The Calgary Flames will be without one of their forwards for a while, as they have announced that forward A.J. Greer will miss the next eight weeks due to a foot fracture.
Greer, 27, was injured during the Flames' last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The gritty forward fell awkwardly feet first into the boards after being tangled up with Blue Jackets defenseman Jake Bean and needed help getting off the ice after it. Following the game, it was reported that the Flames expected that Greer would miss a good amount of time. Now, we have confirmation with this latest update.
This is tough news for a Flames team looking to get back into the playoff race. While Greer is not the most impactful player offensively, he has been a solid waiver addition to their bottom six since his arrival. As a result, they will now need to adjust without him in the lineup.
In 47 games this season with the Flames, Greer has six goals, four assists, and a minus-9 rating. He also has brought the physicality when playing, as he has a solid 77 hits on the season.
Here's to hoping that Greer has a speedy recovery from here and does not suffer any setbacks along the way with his recovery.
