Canadiens Rumors: New Team Linked to Sean Monahan

Montreal Canadiens center Sean Monahan is a very popular player on the trade market. It is understandable, as he is on a rebuilding team and a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) with an outstanding contract. Because of this, teams like the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, and Edmonton Oilers have all been connected to him in varying degrees. Yet, there is now a new team to watch in the sweepstakes.

Due to their struggles after their hot start to the season, the Vegas Golden Knights are expected to add a middle-six forward to their roster. With Monahan being able to work nicely on the second or third line, he is a player who the Golden Knights are expected to have on their radar from here.

Monahan would be an affordable addition to the Golden Knights, and this is especially so if the Canadiens retain a decent portion of his salary. With that, he would also be an outstanding addition to their group, as he would give a boost to their top nine and their power play.

With Monahan being one of the top centers on the market and having a good contract, the Golden Knights are going to have a lot of competition for him. We will need to wait and see if the Golden Knights end up securing him from here.
