Capitals Getting Big Boost vs. Devils
The Washington Capitals have a big matchup tonight (Jan. 3) against the New Jersey Devils. These two clubs are very close in the Metropolitan Division and are looking to secure two points because of it. The Caps have been given some excellent news before this contest, too, as veteran winger Max Pacioretty is set to make his season debut.
It has been a long road to recovery for Pacioretty. The star forward ruptured his Achilles twice last season and has not played for many months. However, he is now joining the Capitals at a time when they need a big boost in their top six, and they are hoping that Pacioretty can provide them with just that.
The Devils are also down a notable forward for this contest, as Timo Meier has been ruled out. Due to this, the Caps now may have a bit of an advantage due to a high-impact forward like Pacioretty returning to the lineup.
Pacioretty appeared in only five games last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he had three goals. When healthy and playing at his best, he is a legitimate top-six winger, and it will be fun to see if he can be just that for a Caps team that needs one badly.
Nevertheless, it is just great that Pacioretty is finally good to go. Let's see if he can pick up a goal in this contest from here.
