Minnesota Wild Make Roster Moves
The Minnesota Wild have activated goaltender Filip Gustavsson off of injured reserve. In a corresponding move, top goalie prospect Jesper Wallstedt has been sent back down to the American Hockey League (AHL) to rejoin the Iowa Wild.
With Gustavsson being activated, there is a good chance that he will start in the club's next game against the Arizona Coyotes on Jan. 13, as fellow netminder Marc-Andre Fleury started in the team's previous matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Gustavsson's last appearance was on Dec. 30 against the Winnipeg Jets, where he allowed three goals in 22 shots in the team's loss. As a result, he has yet to make an appearance for the Wild since the start of 2024, but now that is finally set to change.
After a breakout season for the Wild during the 2022-23 season, Gustavsson has had a bit of a tough season this time around. In 22 games, he currently has a 10-9-2 record to go along with a 2.96 goals-against average (GAA), and a .903 save percentage (SV%).
Wallstedt, on the other hand, had a tough NHL debut for the Wild during his call-up, as he allowed seven goals on 34 shots against the Dallas Stars on Jan. 10 in a loss.
