Pittsburgh Penguins Place Forward On Waivers
The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Radim Zohorna on waivers. If he clears waivers, he will once again join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL.
Zohorna was scratched in four out of the Penguins' last six games, so this waiver placement should not be too surprising. With that, defenseman Chad Ruhwedel is injured, so the Penguins are now in a position to call up a defenseman to take over Zohorna's NHL spot.
Zohorna, 27, has appeared in 31 games this season with the Penguins, where he has set new career highs with four goals and seven points. However, even with his improved offensive totals, it was not enough for him to avoid this waiver placement.
Zohorna could certainly grab some attention on the waiver wire from teams looking to add to their forward depth. The 6-foot-6 forward carries an easily affordable $775,000 cap hit, so he would not be too difficult to bring in.
Zohorna has appeared in 66 career games split between the Penguins, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs, where he has nine goals, nine assists, and a plus-15 rating. Let's see if another club takes a chance on him from here.
