Predators Sign Defenseman to Contract Extension
The Nashville Predators have made a roster move, signing defenseman Kevin Gravel to a two-year, $1.5 million contract. He will carry a $775,000 AAV at the NHL level.
Gravel, 31, has spent the entirety of this season down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Milwaukee Admirals as the club's captain. In 36 games played this season with the AHL squad, he currently has six assists to go along with a plus-6 rating.
Gravel also appeared in 23 games last season with the Predators, where he had zero goals, one assist, and a minus-10 rating. Overall, he is a defenseman who they can call up when injuries arise during the season, but for the most part, he is a key part of the Admirals' roster as their captain.
This signing ensures that Gravel will continue to be one of the Admirals top leaders for the Predators' prospects, and that is certainly not a bad thing in the slightest.
In 132 career NHL games split between the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Predators, Gravel has one goal, 13 assists, and a minus-12 rating. It will be interesting to see how much these career stats change while with the Predators organization during this contract extension from here.
