Senators Rumors: 5 Possible Landing Spots Named for Jakob Chychrun
With the Ottawa Senators once again being one of the worst teams in the NHL, the general expectation is that they will be sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) like Vladimir Tarasenko and Dominik Kubalik have been talked about a lot in the rumor mill for much of this season. However, star defenseman Jakob Chychrun has also been picking up some steam in it, as the Senators are reportedly willing to hear offers for him.
Because of all of the buzz centering around Chychrun, he is expected to have a big trade market over these next few weeks. In a recent article for The Bleacher Report, Adam Gretz listed the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Calgary Flames, and New York Rangers as potential landing spots for Chychrun.
There is no question that each of these five clubs could use a top-pairing defenseman like Chychrun. He would be a massive addition to each of their rosters, so it would make sense for them to try to bring him in before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes.
However, it is important to note that the Senators do not need to force a trade, as Chychrun is under contract beyond this season. Because of this, any of these five teams will need to come up with big trade offers to successfully land him. However, it is fair to state that we should be watching all five of them in the Chychun sweepstakes from here.
