Wild Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Marc-Andre Fleury

Over these next several weeks, Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will be a player to watch in the trade rumor mill. The Wild's chances of turning their season around are rapidly decreasing, and contenders are expected to target Fleury because of it. As a result, let's discuss three specific teams who could be in the sweepstakes leading up to the deadline now.

Edmonton Oilers: The Edmonton Oilers are a clear team to watch in the Fleury sweepstakes. With Jack Campbell down in the AHL due to his struggles, the Oilers would be wise to add another goalie to play with Stuart Skinner. Bringing in Fleury would give them a great veteran to have as their 1B who would also serve as a great mentor for Skinner if acquired. However, they would need the Wild to retain salary to make this deal work, and a third team would potentially need to help out.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes are going to need to add a goalie before the deadline passes. It has been their weakest position this season for a variety of reasons, and Pyotr Kochetkov now being indefinitely has only made things worse. Bringing in an experienced goalie like Fleury could be beneficial for them, and that is especially so if his play improves with a much better Hurricanes defense in front of him.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs expressed interest in Fleury in the past, and they certainly could again when looking at their situation in the net. Ilya Samsonov has been a disaster this season when he was supposed to be their starter. As a result, they would be wise to bring in a player like Fleury. He could serve as a strong backup for Joseph Woll once the latter returns from injury.
