2 Forwards Placed On Waivers

The waiver wire has two forwards on it today (Feb. 18). The Boston Bruins have placed winger Oskar Steen on waivers, while the Detroit Red Wings have done the same thing with forward Matt Luff.

Seeing the Bruins make a change with their roster is not particularly surprising. They have been struggling as of late, as they have lost four straight games and have fallen to second place in the Atlantic Division because of it.

Steen, 25, has not been producing much at all offensively, either, as he has just one goal and a minus-2 rating in 34 games this season. As a result, seeing the Bruins place him on waivers is not too shocking at this juncture.

As for Luff, this waiver placement comes with positivity. The 26-year-old winger has much the entirety of this season so far because of a back injury he suffered during training camp. However, now as we inch closer to the end of February, he is officially ready to get his 2023-24 campaign started.

Luff appeared in 19 games with the Red Wings last season, where he had two goals, four points, and 22 hits.

Teams looking to add some forward depth at a cheap cap hit could consider claiming one of these off of waivers. We will need to wait and see if that does, in fact, come to fruition from here.
