3 Teams Interested in Coyotes' Dumba

It appears to be evident that the Arizona Coyotes are going to be sellers at the trade deadline and they are going to try to move Matt Dumba. Even though it seems as though he has been around for a long time in the NHL, he is only 29 years old, competes, and really wants to win.

After years of competing on good teams in Minnesota, he has experienced a tough season in Arizona as the team is under .500. Dumba is having an alright year, but for a contender looking for a right-shot defenseman who can play on the second or third pairing for fairly cheap, Dumba is one of the targets that fits that bill.

According to The Fourth Period's latest trade board, three teams have been linked to Dumba this season. These teams include the Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Stars are down some right-shot defenders and just need to upgrade their back-end this season to solidify their roster. They don't have a ton of cap room, but at 50% retained, Dumba would have a cap hit of under $2 million. The Maple Leafs have cap room and a need to add a defender. They may not swing for the fences in a trade, so Dumba could be the perfect target for them to log minutes and play a hard playoff style. The Lightning have a lot of cap space opened up now that Sergachev is out for the rest of the regular season at the very least. The Lightning have a need for a defender who can eat minutes and also make an impact. They are expected to make multiple moves, so adding a player like Dumba would suit their cap and defensive needs.
