Anaheim Ducks' Top 3 Trade Candidates At 2024 Deadline
The Anaheim Ducks are in a rebuild and won't be competing in the playoffs this season as they are too far out of the race. This means that in the couple weeks leading up to the 2024 trade deadline, they will be discussing potential trades and selling certain pieces. This is a team of interest to some and should result in at least a couple of moves. Here's a look at the top three trade candidates at the deadline.
Adam Henrique
Adam Henrique has been a topic of discussion around the league after two centermen already got traded. While he does play on the wing on the Ducks' top line, he is fully capable of playing center and taking draws as he does with success. The veteran is still able to produce offensively with 15 goals and 35 points in 53 games while also playing well at both ends of the ice. He is a UFA after the season and his cap hit is a bit high at $5.85 million AAV, but a good chunk of that can be retained by Anaheim.
Ilya Lyubushkin
The Ducks are heading in a younger direction on their back-end and have injected some talented players into their lineup throughout the season. I expect that to continue later in the season after the team has sold off at least Ilya Lyubushkin. He is a UFA after the season as well and has a cap hit of $2.75 million AAV. He brings a strong physical game and would be great for a playoff run. With players like Olen Zellweger and Jackson LaCombe looking to get into the lineup more, it just makes sense Lyubushkin will be moved.
Trevor Zegras
Trevor Zegras has not had the healthiest season and it hasn't come at a great time. Contract talks didn't go the way either the GM or Zegras would've liked, and there seems to be a rift there. His production has also not matched that of his first two seasons and the Ducks are set down the middle. It has become a conversation to either have him play the wing permanently or be moved. It is looking like it could be the latter. He is currently injured, but is set to come back right at the trade deadline this season. He may not be moved to a contender, but another team could use the remainder of the season to find chemistry between Zegras and his new teammates if he is dealt.
