Blues Rumors: Potential Asking Price for Pavel Buchnevich Revealed

The St. Louis Blues are in an interesting spot at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. While they are very much in the playoff race, there have been rumblings that they could sell off some of their players as they continue with their retooling period.

Star forward Pavel Buchnevich is one player who has been discussed heavily in the rumor mill.
Because of this, in his most recent 32 Thoughts column, Elliotte Friedman shared what the Blues' potential asking price for the skilled forward could be – two first-round picks.

Here is exactly what Friedman had to say about Buchnevich and the trade chatter surrounding him: "Doug Armstrong never talks about this stuff, but the price on Pavel Buchnevich is said to be very high. The versatile forward has another year under contract. Two firsts, or something like it?"

When noting that Buchnevich is star forward who would be more than a rental, the Blues asking for two first-round picks for him would not be too surprising. This is because they are not in a position where they need to trade him. With that, he has a $5.8 million cap hit, which is fairly low for a player of his skill level.

Buchnevich, 28, has appeared in 53 games this season, where he has 19 goals to go along with 43 points and a plus-8 rating.

We will need to wait and see if the Blues end up moving Buchnevich before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes from here.
