Bruins Key Defenseman Leaves Game With Injury

The Boston Bruins secured a big 4-3 shootout win over the Dallas Stars today (Feb. 19). While it was excellent that they got two much-needed points, it did not come without a cost. This is because key defenseman Hampus Lindholm left the game early with an injury in the third period and did not return.

Lindholm fell awkwardly behind the net after a collision. Following the game, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said that there is no update regarding the defenseman yet, but more information will be known tomorrow (Feb. 20).

This is certainly concerning news for the Bruins, as Lindholm is one of their most important defenseman. As a result, if he ends up needing to miss time, it will not be good for a Bruins team looking to heat up.

If Lindholm ends up needing to miss a good amount of time, that could change the Bruins' main objective for the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. They will be in trouble without Lindholm in their lineup, as he is easily their best left-shot defenseman.

Lindholm has appeared in 55 games this season with the Bruins, where he has one goal, 19 points, and a plus-19 rating. While his offense has been down a bit this season, he has still been quite solid defensively and a big part of their special team units.
