Calgary Flames' Top 3 Trade Candidates At 2024 Deadline

The Calgary Flames have not messed around this season and have done exactly what they said they would, not letting their pending UFAs hit free agency. This has led to three trades already this season and they aren't done yet. Here's a look at the top three remaining trade candidates for the Flames now.

Noah Hanifin

Of the main pending UFAs that the Flames headed into the season with, Hanifin is the last of them on the team or without a new deal. He is the best defensive target still available and many teams are interested in acquiring him as either a rental or for longer. With how eager the Flames are to set the market, I expect Hanifin to be traded sooner than later.

Jacob Markstrom

There are a few big name goalies available this season, but Jacob Markstrom is arguably the best of them, especially this season. He is the Flames' MVP so far and one of the only reasons why they are in the playoff hunt at this point of the season. Seeing as the Flames already traded off a number of important pieces this season and have Dustin Wolf waiting to get his shot as a full-time member of the team, the Flames could very well move Markstrom this season. He has two years left on his $6 million AAV deal and any contender would love to have him as their goalie.

Oliver Kylington

Oliver Kylington is another pending UFA, but he hasn't played a whole lot this season after not appearing in a game since 2021-22, his breakout season. I don't think his value is very high despite him being a younger defenseman, but that is due to the time missed. The Flames could very well move him if there is interest, only because he may not have a contract with the Flames after the season.
