Capitals Rumors: 3 Potential Suitors for Anthony Mantha

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha is quietly having a bounce-back season with the club, and he is starting to stand out as a solid rental candidate because of it. He is a pending UFA and the Capitals are rapidly falling in the standings, so there is a chance that we will see him moved. This is especially so if the Caps are open to retaining half of his salary.

Because of this, in his most recent NHL Trade Block Big Board for the Bleacher Report, Lyle Richardson listed the New York Islanders, Seattle Kraken, and Los Angeles Kings as three teams who could consider targeting him for added scoring depth.

The Islanders certainly could use a boost in their middle six, and bringing in a player like Mantha would have the potential to give them just that.

If the Kraken are still in the playoff race as we get closer to the deadline, they also could consider bringing in Mantha for their top nine. He would be a low-risk, high-reward kind of rental addition for them, and he would fit on their power play.

As for the Kings, adding a goaltender should be their biggest priority, but it also would not hurt for them to add a scoring winger like Mantha to their third line. This is especially so when noting how much they have struggled over the last month.

We will need to wait and see if any of these three teams land Mantha before the deadline from here.
