Capitals Rumors: 3 Teams Targeting Joel Edmundson

The Washington Capitals are heading in the wrong direction. They have lost five straight games and have won only three out of their last 10 games. Because of this, it is starting to feel like they are going to be sellers, and one defenseman who has been picking up a lot of steam in the rumor mill is defenseman Joel Edmundson.

This is understandable, as Edmundson is in the final season of his contract, and he would be a solid addition to a playoff team looking to improve their defensive group. Because of this, he is generating trade interest, as the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado Avalanche, and Toronto Maple Leafs, according to The Fourth Period.

The Oilers certainly could benefit by adding another defenseman to their roster before the deadline passes. Edmundson is a very interesting option for them, as he can play both the left and the right side. Because of this, he could help their right side, which is an area that could use some improvement.

The Avalanche are another team that would certainly welcome another defenseman to their roster. Edmundson would be a good addition to their bottom pairing, and he would also give them another option for their penalty kill.

The Maple Leafs looking at Edmundson makes a ton of sense. Defensively, they have some notable issues, and bringing in a steady shutdown defenseman like Edmundson would be very beneficial for them. He could fit on either their second pairing or their third pairing.
