Capitals Rumors: Joel Edmundson Linked to Atlantic Team

The Boston Bruins are once again one of the NHL's top teams this campaign, which means that they will surely be buyers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. One area that they are certainly looking to improve is their defensive depth, and this is especially so with Hampus Lindholm being out week-to-week. As a result, they have been connected to multiple defensemen over the last few weeks.

It appears that the Bruins have a new defenseman on their radar, too, as The Fourth Period recently reported that the club is "believed to have poked around" on Washington Capitals defenseman Joel Edmundson.

While Edmundson is not a big-name defenseman like Noah Hanifin, he still would have the potential to be a strong addition to the Bruins' roster. This is because he is a hard-nosed veteran defenseman who has had success during the postseason. That is something that the Bruins could use more of right now.

If the Bruins acquired Edmundson, he would fit in quite nicely on their bottom pairing, as he is capable of playing on both the left side and the right side. Along with that, his defense-first style of play would make him a candidate to play on their penalty kill as well.

Edmundson, 30, has appeared in 39 games this season with the Capitals, where he has one goal, five points, 42 blocks, and 51 hits.

We will need to wait and see if the Bruins end up landing Edmundson before the deadline from here.
