Dallas Stars Make Roster Moves Ahead of Bruins Matchup

The Dallas Stars are preparing for a matinee matchup against the Boston Bruins later today (Feb. 19). However, they have announced a few roster moves ahead of the contest. Defensemen Alexander Petrovic and Derrick Pouliot have been recalled, while forward Matej Blumel has been reassigned to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Seeing the Stars call up two defensemen in Petrovic and Pouliot is entirely understandable. This is because both Nils Lundkvist and Jani Hakanpaa are currently out with upper-body injuries. As a result, the Stars needed at least one defenseman to have six dressed for their contest against the Bruins, and now they have just that.

If Petrovic gets dressed for this matchup, it will be his first NHL regular-season game since the 2018-19 season. The 31-year-old defenseman has plenty of experience in the sport's most competitive league, as he has appeared in 263 career NHL games. In 44 games this season with the Texas Stars, he has three goals to go along with 16 points.

Pouliot, on the other hand, has appeared in 44 games this season with Texas, where he has eight goals and 31 points. In eight games last season with the San Jose Sharks, he had two assists.
