Devils Rumors: Kraken Defenseman On Team's Radar

The Seattle Kraken are standing out as potential sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. This is because they currently do not hold a playoff spot, and there are teams ahead of them in the wild card race. As a result, some of their pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) are expected to be moved. One of their most notable rental candidates is defenseman Justin Schultz.

Schultz is a solid veteran defenseman who has playoff experience and can produce offense from the point, so there should be interest in his services over the next two weeks. One specific team is starting to have him on their radar, as the New Jersey Devils are reportedly interested in him.

The Devils have been linked to a variety of defensemen over the last few months, and it is easy to understand why. This is because star defenseman Dougie Hamilton is sidelined long-term, and they need more depth on their right side because of it. As a result, hearing that Schultz is becoming a potential option of them is not all that shocking.

Schultz would be a nice fit on the Devils' bottom pairing if acquired. He also would be an obvious candidate for power-play time, as he can produce well offensively from the point. This is especially the case if he was playing with star talents like Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and Nico Hischier.

We will need to wait and see if the Devils end up landing Schultz before the trade deadline passes from here.
