Flyers Not Interested In Ducks' Trade Candidate

The Philadelphia Flyers have already made one trade with the Anaheim Ducks this season, but it doesn't seem like another one is on track to happen. There have been rumors that the Flyers may also be interested in Trevor Zegras after the Cutter Gauthier/Jamie Drysdale swap happened, but Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period said that the sense is that the Flyers are not interested in Zegras in trade talks.

While the Flyers are in a competitive rebuild and could very well get into the playoffs this season, the Ducks are further behind and trying to figure out which pieces they are going to keep for the long haul. It does seem like Zegras is bound to be traded, but the Flyers don't appear to be the destination with Morgan Frost figuring out his game under John Tortorella and Sean Couturier locked in for a number of years.

The Flyers could very well add a piece at the deadline, but at the same time, sell a piece or two. It is very unlikely they are going to get a top-10 pick this season and acquire a player that will make a difference, so the best course of action is stay the course. If a great return falls in their lap, take it. But if nothing presents itself as a great move, the Flyers hold a playoff spot and could be competing in the postseason.

If the Flyers are looking at adding younger talent to replace some of the players that are rumored to be on the trade block, that strategy works as well. They set themselves up for the future as well as not crippling themselves this season by getting a whole lot worse.
