Insiders Link 3 Teams To Jordan Eberle in Trade Talks

His name is starting to climb up the trade boards, despite his $5.5 million cap hit. Seattle Kraken winger Jordan Eberle is gaining traction on the trade market, and according to the latest listing from the insiders at The Fourth Period, three teams are in pursuit of the 33-year-old veteran.

Eberle is an impending unrestricted free agent, so if the Kraken fail to stand their ground in the chase for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, it makes sense that they would consider trading the former first-round pick. They currently sit six points back of one of those final two playoff spots out west.

Two caveats include a 16-team no-trade list owned by Eberle, as well as the fact that the Kraken would need to retain a fair chunk of that $5.5 million salary.

Two of the three teams named are former Eberle homes:

Edmonton Oilers

The Oil drafted the Saskatchewan native with the No. 22 selection in the first round of the 2008 Draft, and he spent the first seven years of his career there, including five 20+ goal seasons. He'd be a perfect fit to play alongside Leon Draisaitl on the second line.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Defense is certainly the priority in Toronto, but the team is definitely in need of some secondary scoring, and any offense at all from any forwards not named Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner or William Nylander. Those three account for over half of the team's total offense. Eberle would be a help in the middle-six.

New York Islanders

The Isles are trying to regroup under new head coach Patrick Roy, and are still looking for upgrades. The team is familiar with Eberle from his three years there from 2017-2020, beginning with a 25-goal season.

Everly has recorded nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points and 47 games thus far this season with the Kraken.
