Kings: 2 Wingers Named As Trade Targets If Kempe Is Out Long-Term

Adrian Kempe left in the final couple of minutes of the game against the Edmonton Oilers the other night and flew back to Los Angeles to get a better look at his injury. There is speculation that this injury could keep him out long-term, so the Kings, in the midst of a playoff race, could be looking to add before the trade deadline.

According to Dennis Bernstein, the Kings could look to add a player like Jake Guentzel or Jordan Eberle if Kempe's injury is long-term. This would open up the cap space necessary to make a move for a top-six winger to replace the scoring the team loses.

Guentzel already reportedly has many potential suitors ahead of the trade deadline if the Pittsburgh Penguins decide to sell. Since this is no guarantee, it is more likely the Seattle Kraken move pending UFA Eberle, who plays on the top line and is a playoff performer.

The Kings have struggled to get past the Edmonton Oilers and out of the first round each of the past two seasons, so adding a veteran who has been playing a lot of playoff games the past number of seasons and consistently contributing offensively could go a long way. If Kempe is out long-term (until the playoffs at least), having both Kempe return and another top-six forward in the mix could put the team over the edge and allow them to go on a deeper run.
