Kings Rumors: Wild Goalie Becoming Possible Trade Target

The Los Angeles Kings are likely to be buyers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. They should be looking to add to their group, as there are some areas that could use some improvement, especially before the playoffs.

One specific position that the Kings should be looking to add to their depth to is their goaltending. Backup Pheonix Copley is done for the season, while replacement David Rittich is probably better as a third-string goalie. As a result, in a recent article, John Hoven brought up the prospect of the Kings making a push for Minnesota Wild goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

Fleury's name has come up in the rumor mill a lot over the last few months. This is because the Wild have had their struggles this season, and Fleury is a pending UFA. As a result, if he is open to waiving his full no-movement clause, he would be a clear target for the Kings to consider.

If the Kings acquired Fleury, he would form a strong 1A/1B tandem with Cam Talbot, just like they did during their days together on the Wild. Fleury would also give them a goaltender who has had an immense amount of success, both in the regular season and in the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see if the Kings decide to make a real push for Fleury from here. On paper, it looks like there could be a good match here.
