Kraken Entertaining Calls On 4 Players

The Seattle Kraken are still in the mix for a playoff spot, but there are four teams standing between them and the final wildcard spot at the moment. While there is still a little bit of time for them to gain on the other teams also in the race, the likely scenario is that the team will sell some of their pieces. If they do this and still manage to stay in the race and even sneak into the playoffs, this is a great scenario.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said that the Kraken are entertaining calls on Jordan Eberle, Alex Wennberg, Justin Schultz, and Tomas Tatar. All four of these players are UFAs at the end of the season and could be seen as pretty valuable rentals for Stanley Cup contenders.

Eberle and Wennberg will likely require the Kraken to retain some cap or even take a player back in the deal. These two shouldn't get first-round picks, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get at least a second-round pick and potentially even a late-round pick or average prospect.

Tatar has seen better seasons, but at a $1.5 million AAV cap hit and could be a solid bottom-six forward addition with the potential to move up. He shouldn't cost a whole lot to acquire form the Kraken. And if a team is looking for a bottom pairing defenseman with some offensive skill, Schultz isn't a bad target to have in mind as well. The Kraken would have to retain some of his $3 million AAV cap hit, but he also won't cost a ton to pull from Seattle.
