Kraken Rejecting Trade Offers For Original Member

There are still 12 players in Seattle Kraken's organization that were selected in the expansion draft, but that number will continue to get smaller. One player in particular that the Kraken don't want to see gone though is Yanni Gourde. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Kraken have turned down inquiries on Gourde already this season.

Gourde has one more year left on his deal at $5.166 million AAV and is firmly in a third line center role despite his ability to play all positions. He is someone who is very impactful in the playoffs and has over 80 games of experience, but the Kraken may not get that chance to play postseason games this season.

Gourde is already 32 years old and is a leader on the Kraken, but already has two Stanley Cups from when he was with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Kraken seem to get the job done by committee and Gourde is a part of that. He may only have seven goals and 21 points in 54 games, but the team has struggled offensively as a whole and the veteran is coming off of back-to-back 48-point seasons. The Kraken obviously value him to the point where they won't even listen on any offers and it looks as though the team will want to extend him past next season when they get a chance in the summer.
