Maple Leafs Linked To Sharks' Forward Ahead Of Trade Deadline

It is unlikely that the Toronto Maple Leafs go for one of the top pending UFAs at this trade deadline, but that shouldn't mean they can't either bring in a middle or lower class pending UFA or someone with at least another year left.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period stated that the Maple Leafs have been linked to Anthony Duclair ahead of the deadline. This makes a lot of sense considering the Maple Leafs have had depth scoring issues this season and aren't as dominant during the regular season as they typically are.

Duclair was brought in during the offseason to fill a spot and was expected to be moved at the deadline this season by the San Jose Sharks. His production hasn't been as good as the team had hoped, but his value shouldn't drop too much. He won't fetch a first round pick, and that's what is likely keeping him on the radar of Toronto.

Duclair is a known scorer as he scored 31 goals in 74 games in 2021-22 in his last full season before his injury. His speed is another big factor in why he could be a steal for the Maple Leafs if they target him at the deadline.
