Marc-Andre Fleury Clears the Air on Recent Trade Rumors

Marc-Andre Fleury is as loyal as they come. While ongoing trade rumors have been littered all over the internet lately, the Minnesota Wild netminder made one thing clear, the Wild are the team for him.

Fleury spoke to the media over the weekend and did his best to put some water on the fire as the future hall-of-famer has made it loud and clear, he wants to stay in Minnesota and make the playoffs with his current teammates:

I don't want to just quit, right?. I like this. I like the guys. It's a great bunch of guys. When you're so close, you want to do it all for each other. It's been fun lately winning a bit more, too. If we were last in the conference, maybe it'd be a little bit different. But this is my team. We've been battling together, right? I take pride in winning with this team. I want us to make the playoffs. That's my first priority. I think being in the hunt, it's fun, it's challenging. And I want to be here and see this team make the playoffs.

Fleury, who is likely in his final NHL season, has propelled the Wild to one of the best records in the NHL since the All-Star break. Minnesota is just two points behind the Nashville Predators for the final wildcard spot in the West.

The future hall-of-famer has gone 4-1 in his last five starts and even though there's going to be a ton of trade interest, Wild GM Bill Guerin may be better off keeping Fleury in the mix and getting his team into the postseason.

If for some reason the Wild can't win a game this next week and a half, look for the Avalanche, Kings, and Hurricanes to give Guerin a call on the asking price and if Fleury would waive his no-movement clause to approve the deal.
