Multiple Forwards Placed On Waivers
The waiver wire has some activity today (Feb. 11). Forwards Dominic Toninato (Winnipeg Jets) and Max Willman (New Jersey Devils) have been placed on waivers. The Detroit Red Wings have also placed forward Nolan Stevens on unconditional waivers for the purposes of contract termination.
Toninato, 29, has appeared in 15 games for the Winnipeg Jets this season, where he has one goal, four assists, and a plus-7 rating. Overall, he has had a decent season for the Jets, but their forward depth has made him expendable. Teams looking for some help in their bottom six could consider taking a flier on him.
Willman, 28, is another depth forward who could generate some interest from teams dealing with injuries with their forward group. He has spent most of this season down in the AHL with the Utica Comets, where he has nine goals and 16 points in 20 games. While with the Devils this season, he has one goal to go along with an assist.
As for Stevens, he has spent all of this down in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 27-year-old forward has played in 33 games with the AHL club, where he has three goals to go along with 11 points. This contract termination could be an indicator that he may be signing a contract overseas.
We will need to wait and see if any of these players end up being claimed by another team from here.
