New York Rangers Trade Offer Was Rejected By Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames ended up trading Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks, even though they are a rival and it could come around to bite them should Lindholm re-sign. Turns out there was a ton of interest from around the league, however not everyone was willing to pony up.
This includes the New York Rangers, owner James Dolan apparently had some alternative motives when it came to trade negotiations as there's been reports that Dolan didn't want to give up a 2024 first-round pick in the move because of the fact the NHL is heading to the Las Vegas Sphere for the draft in June, and Dolan owns the Sphere and wants to be heavily involved in the day.
Darren Dreger of TSN has more:
Darren Dreger saying on TSN Insider James Dolan wants to protect the 2024 1st Round pick so that the Rangers can be part of the spotlight at The Sphere that he owns part of. We also made an offer on Elias Lindholm #NYR pic.twitter.com/tXJKQxmRoJ

The Rangers are in the market for some help up front and have been linked to the Anaheim Ducks for both Frank Vatrano and Adam Henrique, meanwhile have also been linked to Patrick Kane should the Red Wings not stay put in a playoff spot.
Needless to say there's always lots going down on Broadway and it's going to be difficult for GM Chris Drury to navigate the trade deadline when his hands are tied from ownership.
