NHL Rumors: Flames & Coyotes Talking Trade?

According to NHL insider Rob Ellis, the Calgary Flames and the Arizona Coyotes are reportedly engaged in trade discussions that could potentially alter the course of both franchises.

Amidst swirling speculation, talks between the two teams have intensified, hinting at a significant exchange involving key players and valuable draft assets.

Ellis suggests that the Flames are contemplating parting ways with defenseman Rasmus Andersson and forward Andrew Mangiapane, while the Coyotes are reportedly considering offering power forward Lawson Crouse, promising defenseman Victor Soderstrom, and a coveted 2024 first-round pick.

This season, Andersson has scored seven goals, 30 total points, a +3 plus/minus rating, and 124 blocked shots across 52 games played. That being said, recent rumors have said the Flames are not interested in moving Andersson.

Mangiapane is having a decent season, amassing 11 goals and 31 total points across 55 games played.

If these rumored negotiations materialize into a trade agreement, it could signal strategic realignments for both organizations.

Crouse is on track for one of his best NHL seasons, scoring 20 goals and 31 total points across 54 games played so far this season.

This season, spent with the Coyotes' AHL affiliate, Soderstrom has eight goals, 22 points and a -1 plus/minus rating over 43 games played.

For the Coyotes, acquiring Andersson and Mangiapane would provide immediate reinforcements, addressing needs in both defensive depth and offensive skill.

Meanwhile, the Flames would potentially benefit from injecting youthful talent into their roster, with Crouse, Soderstrom, and a first-round pick offering long-term potential and flexibility. Photo Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports
