Penguins Place Forward On Waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a roster move, as they have placed forward Colin White on waivers.

White, 27, has appeared in 11 games this season with the Penguins, where he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. Overall, the Massachusetts native struggled to contribute offensively, and that likely played a role in this waiver placement.

White started this season down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he had five goals to go along with 10 points in 21 games. If he clears waivers, he will once again join the AHL squad and will continue to be a key contributor to their roster, both because of his offense and overall experience.

However, when noting that White has a very cheap cap hit, it is quite possible that a team could consider taking a flier on him through a waiver claim. This is especially so if they are dealing with injury trouble or need some help in their bottom six.

White has appeared 303 NHL games split between the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, and Penguins, he has 44 goals, 113 points, and a minus-54 rating. His best season came back in 2018-19, where he had 14 goals and 41 points in 71 games.

We will need to wait and see if White ends up getting picked up by another team from here.
