Philadelphia Flyers Could Be Facing Devastating Injury

The Philadelphia Flyers have a couple of the most sought-after defensemen on the trade market as we approach the deadline, but a potentially devastating injury to another D-man on Sunday may just force the team to hold onto those assets.

Jamie Drysdale was crushed in the left shoulder on a neutral zone hit by Pittsburgh Penguins center Jansen Harkins, and immediately darted off the ice and headed straight for the locker room. Drysdale was no doubt concerned that this could be a recurrence of the torn labrum he suffered in that shoulder just two years ago.

Drysdale was out for six months after the 2022 injury to his shoulder.

The No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft arrived in Philly earlier this season in a stunning and sudden trade from the Anaheim Ducks for former No. 5 pick Cutter Gauthier. Drysdale has been a regular on the Flyers blue line ever since, logging over 19 minutes of ice time of night while recording four points in 16 games.

The 21-year-old was actually given a "maintenance day" to skip practice earlier this week after getting a little "dinged up" in the Flyers game against the Chicago Blackhawks this past Wednesday.

The team will hold its breath that this shoulder injury isn't as serious as the torn labrum suffered in 2022.
