Philadelphia Flyers Place Cal Petersen On Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have made a roster move, as they have placed goaltender Cal Petersen on waivers.

Petersen, 29, was acquired by the Flyers during this past offseason from the Los Angeles Kings. However, he has primarily spent this season down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Now, if he clears waivers, he will once again be with the AHL squad.

In five appearances this campaign with the Flyers, Petersen has a 2-2-0 record, a 3.90 goals-against average (GAA), and a .864 save percentage (SV%). Overall, while with the Flyers, he has struggled to once again cement himself as a legitimate NHL goaltender.

Petersen has played in 15 games for the Phantoms, where he sports a 5-8-2 record, a 3.26 GAA, and a .890 SV%. Overall, at the AHL level, he has run into some trouble as well.

With Petersen having a $5 million cap hit until the end of next season, it is safe to say that he will not be claimed off of waivers following this most recent placement.

In 106 career NHL games split between the Kings and the Flyers, he has a 46-44-10 record, a .903 SV%, and a 2.96 GAA.
