Predators Rumors: Forward Becoming Trade Candidate
The Nashville Predators are a team to watch during the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. This is because they are expected to make some moves, and star goaltender Juuse Saros has been generating the most trade chatter from their roster over the last few weeks.
However, in his most recent 32 Thoughts column, Elliotte Friedman noted that forward Tommy Novak is another Predators player to pay attention to in the trade market over the next few weeks.
Here is what the NHL insider had to say on the matter: "Another under-the-radar centre is Nashville’s Tommy Novak. Unrestricted, the Predators wish to sign him, but it’s a unique salary case in there are so few comparables. He can score — 43 points in 51 games last year, heating up with four goals in Nashville’s last five games. If they can’t keep him, there will be interest. He’s making $800,000."
While Novak may not be the biggest name on the trade market, it is quite possible that he could generate plenty of interest over the next couple of weeks. As Friedman noted, he is a pretty solid point producer when playing at his best. Because of this and his cheap cap hit, he would be a good addition to a playoff team's middle six.
Novak, 26, has appeared in 45 games this season, where he has 12 goals to go along with 28 points. Overall, it has been another solid season for him, and several teams should be calling about him from here because of it.
