Predators Sign Gritty Forward to Contract Extension

The Nashville Predators have made a move, as they have signed forward Michael McCarron to a two-year contract extension that carries a $900,000 AAV.

McCarron, 28, is quietly having a solid season with the Predators during the 2023-24 campaign. In 42 games, he has seven goals to go along with 13 points. He needs just one more goal and two more points to set new career highs.

While McCarron is finding some success offensively this season, his biggest impact has come from his immense physicality. He currently has 91 hits to go along with 75 penalty minutes, so it is fair to say that he has been playing quite a heavy game.

With this move, McCarron will continue to be a solid part of the Predators' bottom six for at least two more seasons after this one. It is clear that his hard-nosed style of play and high amount of effort have impressed the Predators, as they now have given the gritty forward a multi-year pact.

In 200 career NHL games split between the Montreal Canadiens and Predators, McCarron has 18 goals, 39 points, 479 hits, and 295 penalty minutes. It will be interesting to see how well he improves upon these career stats during the duration of his contract extension from here.
