Rangers Rumors: Flyers Forward On Team's Radar

The New York Rangers are surely looking to add to their forward group before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. One specific area that they will look to improve is their center depth, as Filip Chytil is done for the season, while Nick Bonino's contract was terminated.

Because of this, the Rangers are now one of the many teams that are being linked to Philadelphia Flyers top trade candidate Scott Laughton, as reported by The Athletic's Arthur Staple.

Laughton would be a big addition to the Rangers' forward group if acquired. This is because he would not only provide their middle six with more skill and scoring but also far more grit. This would certainly make him a strong pickup for their roster if acquired, but this is especially so once the playoffs are around.

When looking at a specific spot in the Rangers' lineup for Laughton, he would work nicely as their new third-line center. However, due to his versatility, he also could play on the wing on their third line. With that, his net-front presence ability would make him an option for their power play, while his steady defensive play would surely get him time on their penalty kill.

The Rangers are not the only team being linked to Laughton, and his trade market should continue to increase as we get closer to the deadline. Because of this, the Rangers will hae plenty of competition to land him. We will need to wait and see if they end up landing him from here.
