Rangers Rumors: Kaapo Kakko Linked to Pacific Team
New York Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko is a notable trade candidate heading toward the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. The Rangers have made it known that they are willing to hear offers for the 2019 second-overall pick, and there should be plenty of interest in him because of it.
Some clubs who have been linked to Kakko in recent weeks include the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, and Minnesota Wild. However, a new suitor has emerged for the promising winger, as the San Jose Sharks reportedly are interested in adding him.
It is understandable that the Sharks have Kakko on their radar. He is a young forward who has the potential to improve, and the Sharks are in the middle of a big rebuild. As a result, they are in an obvious position to take a shot on Kakko.
If the Sharks acquired Kakko, he would be a real candidate to receive time in their top six. This is because their forward group is not particularly strong on the wings. Along with that, they have several forwards who could be traded before the deadline, including Alexander Barabanov, Mike Hoffman, Anthony Duclair, and Kevin Labanc.
On paper, it looks like there would be a good match here between the Sharks and Kakko. We will need to wait and see if their rumored interest in him leads to him moving to San Jose from here.
