Red Wings Rumors: Latest on Jonatan Berggren's Trade Market
The Detroit Red Wings are having a strong season, and for the first time in a long time, they are set to be buyers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline because of it. Yet, while this is the case, one of their young forward, Jonatan Berggren, has been in the rumor mill for much of this season. That not only remains the case right now, but it is also increasing as we inch closer to March 8.
Berggren's trade market is starting to pick up significantly, as he now has several suitors. According to The Fourth Period, the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, and Calgary Flames are all linked to the skilled young forward.
It is not too surprising to see these clubs all being linked to Berggren as we get closer to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. All of them are currently out of playoff spots and are in a prime position to take a chance on a young forward with good upside like Berggren. If acquired by any of these five clubs, he would surely have the chance to play in the NHL regularly, as they each have weaker forward depth than the Red Wings at this juncture.
Berggren, 23, has appeared in nine games this season with the Red Wings, where he has two goals and five points in nine games. While with the Grand Rapids Griffins this campaign, he has been marvelous, posting 16 goals and 38 points in 37 games. Clearly, this is a player who is ready for the NHL, and a change of scenery would be best for him at this point.
