Rasmussen is in the last year of his three-year deal that holds a cap hit of just $1.46 million AAV. He is now in his fifth season in the NHL and is currently lining up on the top line beside Dylan Larkin and Patrick Kane.
Rasmussen is only 24 years old and is expected to continue to get better. This season he has 11 goals and 23 points in 55 games. Even though he is playing on the top line right now, he is seen as more of a middle-six player. Since the deal spans four seasons, it could really look good by the end of it at the perfect time for the Red Wings and their Stanley Cup hopes.
