Sabres' Owen Power To Miss Time With Injury Suffered In Practice

The Buffalo Sabres got hit with some unfortunate injury news this morning as the dynamic young defenseman Owen Power was confirmed by head coach Don Granato to be injured in practice yesterday (Feb. 12) and will be out at least a week.

Power is just one of three Sabres to have played in all 51 games this season and he has been a huge part in any success the team has had. As a 21-year-old defenseman, he has logged the second most ice time on the team this season and has put up two goals and 18 points.

With Mattias Samuelsson already out for the season, losing Power is a huge blow for the Sabres who are still trying to work their way back up the standings and into the playoff picture. CapFriendly has Power listed as week-to-week, so anything longer than a week will be detrimental to their chances this season which are already very small.

Filling in on the left side on pairings 2 and 3 are Jacob Bryson and Ryan Johnson. While Bryson has only played five games for the Sabres this season, Johnson is up to 32. I expect the team to continue to run with these two for the next little while at the very least and we might see another call-up eventually if Power isn't back in short order and Erik Johnson is traded before the deadline.
