Sabres' Tuch Getting Interest From Teams

As the Buffalo Sabres' sit lower down in the standings and have a very tough road to make the playoffs this season, it appears as though they will be selling at this year's trade deadline. While a number of names have hit the rumor mill, a new name has come up, and it isn't who you would expect.

On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman reported that teams have asked Buffalo about Alex Tuch, but the Sabres value him. Tuch has proven to be a valuable top-six player since arriving in  Buffalo in the Jack Eichel deal, and considering Tuch loves in there, it's not likely he's going to want to leave anytime soon, especially not with the Sabres getting better.

Tuch currently plays on the top line and was part of one of the best lines in the league last season. They've had a bit of a tougher go this season, but he is still having a solid year. He will average over 19 minutes a game as a winger, play in all situations, will hit and block shots, and can produce offensively. He may not be a point-per-game player and last year could be seen as an outlier, but he should still be able to put up 60+ points per season.

Tuch has two years left on his deal after this season at a very good price of $4.75 million AAV. Despite the interest by teams, it doesn't seem like Tuch is going anywhere. It isn't very often that a team like the Sabres finds someone who is really excited to play there and is as cost-effective as he is. He seems like someone who could be around a long time and continue to take a hometown discount.
