Senators Rumors: New Team Eyeing Dominik Kubalik

The Ottawa Senators have had a disappointing 2023-24 season, and there are expected to be sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline because of it. One of their most notable trade candidates is forward Dominik Kubalik. The expectation is that he will be moved, as he is on an expiring contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Interest in Kubalik is starting to increase a bit, too, as the Colorado Avalanche are emerging as a suitor for the skilled forward.

It is not a secret that the Avalanche are looking to improve their forward group a bit more before the trade deadline passes. While they have definitely had a very good season, they still could use a bit more secondary scoring, and that is exactly what Kubalik would provide them with if acquired.

Kubalik has struggled a bit this season with the Senators, as he has nine goals and 12 points in 47 games. Yet, when noting that he had 20 goals and 45 points just last season with the Detroit Red Wings, it is fair to wonder if he could heat back up if given a fresh start. Joining a team with better offensive weapons on the Avalanche could help his point totals.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Senators and Avalanche strike a deal centering around Kubalik from here. On paper, there seems to be a good potential fit here, but time will tell if he ends up heading to the Avs.
