Senators Rumors: Wild Report of Brady Tkachuk Hitting Trade Market Picking Up Steam

It was a few days ago when Spittin' Chiclets cohost Ryan Whitney posted on social media, suggesting that the Ottawa Senators could actually be considering putting Brady Tkachuk on the trade block. That rumor now seems to be picking up a little bit of steam. This is what Whitney had said on the weekend:

"The Sens have something cooking right now. Rumor Boys hearing that Ottawa would maybe move Brady Tkachuk. Can’t believe it though because no one could be that dumb. 9 points out of playoffs with 2 games in hand," wrote Whitney.

Of course, Whitney's math is off as the playoff dreams have long since sailed in Ottawa, but TVA Sport has doubled down on the Tkachuk rumor, as Renaud Lavoie on his JiC show said last night that there actually could be something to this thing.

There is a lot of noise surrounding Tkachuk. This is noise that has existed since the start of the season. It’s a cloud that hangs over the team.

Lavoie went on to suggest that Brady's dad, former NHLer Keith Tkachuk has Whitney's ear, and that if Dad is the source, there really could be something to this.

But trading their captain and best player? Could the Senators really be considering such a drastic action?

Maybe yes, maybe no, says Lavoie, but he clearly suggests that something is amiss in Ottawa.

“There is something that is happening and it is happening in a certain way. I'm told there are players who are not happy with the way things are going with the Senators. And the leaders are not happy with the way things are going with young people in the organization. One thing is clear: whether Brady Tkachuk remains in place or not, big decisions will have to be made."

It's obviously been a tumultuous season in Ottawa, losing their top rookie from last year to a 41-game suspension, losing a first-round draft pick over a trade flap from a couple of years ago, firing a head coach, and wallowing around at the bottom of the Atlantic Division with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference at 25–29–3.

10 more days until the deadline; What will the Senators look like once the dust clears?
