Video: Rangers' Rempe ejected after nasty head shot on Devils' Bastian
New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe is making quite the impression these last couple of weeks. After getting his NHL debut out of the way at the NHL's stadium series, which included fighting Matt Martin on his first shift in front of 70,000 people, Rempe is once again making headlines, this time for all the wrong reasons.
Rempe was ejected from Thursday's contest with the New Jersey Devils after delivering an unfortunate headshot to Devils forward Nathan Bastian.

It’s being reviewed for a Major penalty, he should be tossed for this one. pic.twitter.com/Tm0oW8KDV6
Rempe was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct and surely will be hearing from the NHL's department of player safety over this one. The play happened in the first period and the contact with the head is clear as day:
Rangers coach Peter Laviolette defended Rempe saying he's a big kid who didn't lift his arm for the hit and how he kept both arms and feet down. He's 6-foot-7 so when an opposing player leans forward before they are getting hit, things can get very dicey.
Rempe was a sixth-round pick in 2020 and is making a name for himself, a few different ways now.
