3 Canadian Teams Interested In Blues' Parayko
While the St. Louis Blues have stayed in the playoff race this season, they are still a bit back of finding themselves in a playoff spot. It isn't that likely that this team, that has been surrounded in trade rumors, finds themselves inside the playoffs by the end of the season. There is still quite a bit of work to do before the Blues are a Stanley Cup contender again, and this will come after some pieces are moved in and others are brought back.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Calgary Flames are believed to have interest in Colton Parayko. The Blues' defense has to change somehow, and there isn't one player who stands out as untouchable among their top-four. Parayko, Nick Leddy, Torey Krug, and Justin Faulk are all paid a significant amount per year and all have no-trade clauses for some time longer.
If the Blues are going to rework their defense, at least one of these veteran defenders will have to waive their no-trade clause and go to a team that they may find more success in. Parayko, being the youngest and most attractive target for many teams, may have to be the one moved. The Senators are weak on the right side and he could do well there for Ottawa. The Maple Leafs are still looking for more right-shot defenseman to fill holes on the back-end, especially with injuries this season. The Flames just moved on from Chris Tanev, so they also have a hole and money to work with. Parayko would be a solid piece to help retool quickly.
